This tutorial if you want one shap to really stand out, like the middle of the fingers in my picture.
One;; Make a new Raster layer and paint on your shape with a light pastel colour. I chose pink. Two;; Set the Blend Mode to Screen, opacity at 70%. Three;; Copy you base, drag it to the top and set it's Blend Mode to Soft Light.

Yeah, I know, I forgot about my LJ but still, I have a problem. I have this simple layout because, even though I made one that's quite nice, I can't get ANY layouts to work! Not one. It really puzzles me. So, I'll have to tap into that a bit more if I want a custom layout.

This can be for any kind of graphic, a blend, an icon, the possibilities are endless. Now, I did this on PSP 8, but it could easily be translated. Okay!
One;; Get your base opened up. Go to Layers >> Merge >> Merge all (Flatten) if there is any layers. Two;; Go to Layers >> Duplicate and Go to Layers >> Properties and set the Blend Mode to Screen Three;; Layers >> New Raster Layer. Set that Blend Mode to Exlusion. Four;; Set your color to #000032. Fill that Raster 1 with that colour. Five;; Layers >> New Adjustment Layer >> Color Balance. Set it to about 33-0-0
Done! Here is a snippet of the blend I made with it.

This tut is pretty easy to follow. It's on PSP 8, and I'm not sure if it's tanslateable.
One;; Open you image and press ctrl + c. (You'll need it later) Two;; Go to Adjust >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur. Set the Radius to 2. Three;; Go to Edit >> Paste >> Paste as New Layer. Four;; Make sure the new layer is selected and go to Layers >> Properties. Set the blend mode to Soft Light. Done! Post your results in the comments area.
